Lassithi est un plateau situé à 800 mètres d’altitude dans l’île de Crète. Selon la légende, Zeus y a fait ses premiers pas et Europe y a accouché du roi Minos. C’est le lieu de mon travail.
J’ai utilisé la vitesse pour bousculer le paysage, le griffer, l’éclater, pour que l’œil s’accroche à la surface avant de plonger dans l’image. Les formes dansent, tempêtent, tournoient et s’effilochent. La terre se soulève en vagues, les arbres déchirent ciel. La nature livrée au hasard est inquiète, étrange, déraisonnable.
C’est la création émergeant du chaos.
C’est le monde d’avant les dieux, d’avant les hommes …et des témoins que nous sommes.

Lasithi is a plateau in the island of Crete at an altitude of 800 meters. According to legend, that is where Zeus took his first steps and where Europa gave birth to king Minos. It is the site of this work. I used speed to jostle the landscape, claw it, scratch it, so the eye is caught by the surface before diving into the image. Shapes dance, bluster, whirl and unravel. The terrain rises in waves, the trees rip the sky.Nature delivered to chance is worried, strange, unreasonable.
It is creation emerging from chaos.
It is the world before gods before humans … and us witnessing it.

Το Λασίθι είναι ένα οροπέδιο στην Κρήτη σε υψόμετρο 800 μέτρων. Σύμφωνα με τον θρύλο, εκεί έκανε τα πρώτα του βήματα ο Δίας και η Ευρώπη γέννησε τον βασιλιά Μίνωα. Είναι ο τόπος αυτής της εργασίας μου. Έκανα χρήση της ταχύτητας για να ταρακουνήσω το τοπίο, να το γρατζουνίσω, ώστε το μάτι να πιάσει την επιφάνεια πριν βυθισθεί μέσα στην εικόνα. Οι μορφές χορεύουν σαν σε θύελλα, στροβιλίζονται και ξηλώνονται. Το έδαφος φουσκώνει σε κύματα, τα δέντρα ξεσκίζουν τον ουρανό. Η φύση παραδομένη στην τυχαιότητα είναι ανήσυχη, παράξενη, παράλογη.
Δημιούργημα που ξεπροβάλλει από το χάος.
Είναι ο κόσμος πριν τους θεούς, πριν τους ανθρώπους … και εμάς που είμαστε μάρτυρες.
